Orthopedic Surgery

At Healing Hearts Animal Urgent Care in Round Rock, we provide thoughtful surgical care for pets with painful injuries, orthopedic emergencies, and select mobility-related conditions, while also working collaboratively with primary care veterinarians and referral partners when appropriate.

Types of Orthopedic Surgeries We Offer

Orthopedic surgery focuses on injuries and conditions involving your pet’s bones, joints, and mobility.

TPLO is a common surgery used to stabilize the knee after a cruciate ligament tear, which is similar to an ACL injury in people. This procedure helps reduce pain, improve stability, and support a more comfortable return to movement for many dogs.
FHO is a procedure that removes the damaged ball portion of the hip joint to help relieve pain and improve mobility. It is often recommended for certain hip injuries or chronic hip problems when restoring comfort is the main goal.
Limb amputation may be recommended when a leg has been severely injured, is causing ongoing pain, or cannot be safely repaired. While this can feel like a big decision, many pets adapt remarkably well and go on to live happy, comfortable lives.
Digit amputation involves removing a damaged, infected, or painful toe when it cannot be successfully treated in a less invasive way. This procedure can help relieve pain, prevent further complications, and support healing.
Pin removal is performed when orthopedic implants are no longer needed or are causing irritation or complications during recovery. Removing the pin can help improve comfort and support continued healing once the bone has stabilized.
